By this time these youngsters are almost 2 weeks old and their mother is already laying again to raise another
set of twins.
Growth continues but the rate of it is decreasing . It is now time to put feathers on these naked bodies.
A baby pigeon is born with down feathers ( plumulae). Contour feathers (pennae) are beginning to grow in species specific
feather tracts ( pterylae) at about 4 days of age. Some of the neck and head contour feathers will carry the down feathers
of the newly hatched squab right on their tips until the little guy is about four weeks old.
